Citizens of Wayne County, Georgia have long been concerned about the increasing population of stray, abandoned and homeless animals in our county. Because we know these animals do not choose their situation and and are helpless to voice their needs, our goal is to help resolve this situation and, by so doing, benefit the entire community.

Current statistics for the number of animals picked up by our animal control are phenomenal and the lack of any arrangement to properly maintain or care for them is devastating. Although Animal Services is doing the best they can, on the average, twenty animals are euthanized weekly, due to lack of space at the Wayne County Pound and their carcasses are put into landfills. This is not a situation that Wayne County should be proud of. ARF hopes to make a difference.

ARF has two immediate goals, one of which to provide foster homes for animals taken into the pound and, by so doing, allow time for these animals to be adopted and placed in permanent caring homes. We are licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture for this purpose. Our second goal is to promote and partially finance a county wide spay and neuter program. We firmly believe such a program will eventually help to reduce the numbers of stray and abandoned animals.
